LED: Live Emotional Display
S1 Artspace. 04-08/03 (2020)
Live Emotional display was an installation piece exhibited at S1 Artspace as part of Philip Lee's Emotional Archive Exhibition (2020). The installation explores a new method of emotional communication using smart colour changing LEDs controlled by participants’ phones through an app and the internet.
The artwork aimed to put people's live emotional experience at the heart of the exhibition by inviting participants to reflect on how they were feeling and change the LED's colours in relation to their present emotions. Participants were able to control the lights from both inside the gallery, and outside as they went about their daily lives, and as a result would be able to completely change the atmosphere of the exhibition in real time with their emotions.
